The Dariganga Volcanic Field is SE Mongolia near the border with China and is shown in this 28 September 2019 Sentinel-2 satellite image (N is at the top). The field contains over 200 scoria cones and resulting lava flows across around 14,000 km2. This image is approximately 190 km across.Satellite image courtesy of Copernicus Sentinel Data, 2019. The sparsely vegetated lava flow filling this valley originated from Horgo scoria cone (center). The cone is part of the Taryatu-Chulutu volcanic field in north-central Mongolia about 250 km W of Ulaanbaatar. The volcanic field contains six Holocene scoria cones along the Sumein and Gichgeniyn river valleys at the western end of the volcanic field.
Photo by Piotr Olszewski, 2004. Urun Dush volcano (center) is one of the scoria cones in the Khanuy Gol volcanic field, in west-central Mongolia about 150 km WNW of the capital city of Ulaanbaatar. The volcanic field covers a broad area along the Khanuy River and in other drainages to the east. The cones range from about 30 to 190 m in height and are considered to be of late-Pleistocene to Holocene age.
